Our shepherd's hut is here to offer our guests the chance to leave behind the busy and complicated modern world and return to basics, close to nature and all it has to offer for a restorative and memorable countryside break. A real chance to unplug from the world and connect with nature.

A low-impact lifestyle, with its benefits on health, people, communities and Earth’s resources, is important to us. We think our smallholding is the perfect place for us to live well, consume and waste less, grow (some of) our own food, produce (some of) our own energy, support small, local and independent businesses, learn and practice new skills and live close to nature.

Our shepherd’s hut and the simple, off-grid experience we offer here at Rural and Rustic are a natural extension of this: soul-nourishing short-breaks and wellbeing-enhancing retreats that don’t cost the Earth – literally!

In an effort to limit the impact of the shepherd's hut on the environment and in keeping with our own low-impact lifestyle, we have re-used, recycled, upcycled and made things ourselves. What we did not make or purchased second-hand, we sourced from small, local and/or suppliers with values similar to ours. We have created, for our guests, a quirky and cosy hideaway with plenty of rustic charm and a touch of luxury.

We have some lovely gift vouchers for those wanting to treat someone special to a 2-night stay at our shepherd's hut, including breakfast each morning. The vouchers are attractively designed to suit every occasion, printed on recycled card and supplied with a good quality Kraft envelope. A mindful gift that doesn't cost the Earth, literally!
