Our Privacy Policy

Rural and Rustic is our blog and trading name for the holidays and retreats we run from our smallholding near Montgomery in Mid-Wales.

We collect and store a small amount of personal data as follows:

Holidays in the shepherd’s hut

When you make a holiday booking direct with us, we will ask you your name, address and telephone number. This is stored in an Excel Spreadsheet and provides evidence to Powys County Council that we have guests staying with us as tourists rather than long-term tenants. This is to comply with our planning permission and we are obliged by the local authority to keep such records and make them available to them if they asked to look at them. We do not routinely pass on these records to the local authority; they are kept because Powys County Council could ask to see them.

We do not store guests’ payment details.

Guests who book a holiday in our shepherd’s hut via Airbnb, TripAdvisor or Quality Unearthed will have separate booking and payment agreements with these two companies. Correspondence between us in this instance is via the message system of these companies. We will only ask for your address for the same reason as above. We do not have access to your payment details when bookings are done via Airbnb and TripAdvisor.

Retreats

When you make a retreat booking direct with us, we will ask you your name, address and telephone number. This is stored in an Excel Spreadsheet and provides evidence to Powys County Council that we have guests staying with us as retreatants rather than long-term tenants. This is to comply with our planning permission and we are obliged by the local authority to keep such records and make them available to them if they asked to look at them. We do not routinely pass on these records to the local authority; they are kept because Powys County Council could ask to see them.

We do not store guests’ payment details.

In addition to your contact information, we will keep notes about our discussions during your retreat. These records will be kept on paper which will then be locked in a filing cabinet, separate from retreatants’ contact information to protect their identity. Retreatants may have access to the notes relevant to their retreat by making a request in writing. As a professional in the field of counselling, Maryline engages in regular supervision to support her professional development and to ensure an ethical practice. Your identity is not revealed in supervision.
